Denman Island Community School
The
Denman Island Community School and the Denman Island Community Education
Society (DICES) provide a variety of educational, support, and recreational
services to children, youth, families, and adults in our community.
Programs include literacy and early intervention programs for pre-school
and primary children, support for teens commuting to high school,
community Internet access, distance education, health and wellness
education, continuing education for life-long learning, employment
counselling, and recreational programs.
Public Internet Access Site
Community Access Programs (CAP) have been set up
in communities across Canada through funding from
Industry Canada, a department of the federal government.
These CAP sites provide free Internet access to
the public. CAP sites are located in public libraries,
other public buildings, and in several cases in
BC, in community schools.
The Denman Island CAP Site has several computers, resource information
and volunteer or staff support to help you learn to use the computers,
search the Internet, use Email, search for jobs, and develop specific
software skills. For CAP site hours, please check here.
Unfortunately, long-term provincial funding for community schools
is uncertain. DICES and other community schools have been active
in trying to establish adequate, stable funding. Your support is
essential in these efforts!
