Concerts Denman
The 2002-2003 Concerts Denman series is now over.
Information about next year's series will be posted as soon as it
becomes available.
The Denman Island Arts & Craft Society is
proud to present the Twelfth Annual Concerts Denman
Series for the 2002-2003 season!
All concerts are held at the Denman Island Community
Hall and begin at 8pm. Sumptuous desserts and
refreshments are available in the
Back Hall following each performance, where you
also have the opportunity to speak with the artists
about their work.
Marc
Atkinson Trio - September 28, 2002
As well as delighting audiences in his other inspired musical ensemble
The Bill Hilly Band, Marc Atkinson has been receiving rave reviews
for the gypsy stylings with his Trio. The repertoire on their compelling
new CD ranges from clever original tunes to compositions by Duke
Ellington, Nick Lucas, and Chopin. Marc is a favourite on CBC but

Karen
Savoca with Pete Heitzman - October 18, 2002
Karen Savoca is an extraordinary and adventurous singer. Whether
playing guitar, piano, or hand percussion, she drenches the music
in her love of soul and world rhythms. Together she and innovative
guitarist Pete Heitzman offer uplifting and hypnotic performances.
From years of headlining major North American festivals, Karen has
developed a large and enthusiastic following. It is an exciting

Jessica
Linnebach & Kirsten Olafson - January 18, 2003
Young Canadian violinist Jessica Linnebach has entranced audiences
on three continents with her depth of interpretation and artistry.
Since her debut at the age of seven, Jessica has appeared with leading
orchestras across North America. Kirsten Olafson has been the winner
of numerous prizes and awards for her piano playing. She is currently
studying for her Doctorate in Music in Stonybrook NY on a full scholarship,
but is excited to return to her home island and play with Jessica.
Masabo
Culture Company - February 15, 2003
There is an explosion of energy when the Masabo Culture Company
hits the stage! This dynamic ensemble of hereditary West African

Kaeshammer - March 22, 2003

Pavlo
- May 10, 2003
Pavlo composes a style of music best described as Mediterranean.
His songs combine influences ranging from Flamenco, and Latin, to
classical arrangements and Mediterranean guitar flawlessly mixed
together with the distinctive sounds of the Greek Bouzouki. Pavlo
has three albums entitled "Pavlo", "Fantasia",
which was nominated for a Juno award for "Best Instrumental
Album of the Year" in 2000, and his recent release "I
Feel Love Again". This latest recording breaks new ground through
the lyrical discovery of Pavlo's heart-felt singing. Visit
